HYDERABAD: Additional District Judge Bhongir court convicted a man who killed his wife to undergo life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Monday.

In the case registered by Gandikota Nadam, the man Rapolu Naresh had killed Nadam's daughter in 2013 over family disputes. Reportedly, in 2011 Latha and Naresh got married after which Naresh started physically and mentally abusing her. In 2012, Latha also lodged a complaint against Naresh and left him. In 2013, he convinced her to come back. On April 3, 2013, when Latha was doing routine household chores, they had a fight. Naresh reportedly hit her head on a wall, forced her to pour kerosene on herself and set her on fire. On hues and cries of Latha, nearby witnesses extinguished the flames and shifted her to Government Area Hospital, Bhongir. Later the victim was shifted to Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad for treatment and on April 4, 2013, she succumbed to the injuries.

Police had arrested him and sent him to judicial custody. On Monday, during his trial, Judge K Maruthi Devi sentenced 24-year-old Naresh to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.
