Woman jumps to death in AP canal, relative too dies in rescue bid

PALNADU: A woman died by suicide in Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh on Monday but the incident also led to the death another person who tried to rescue her. The incident happened in the Narnepadu Major Canal in Muppalla mandal of the district.

According to the information available, the married woman, who had a dispute at her in-laws' house, was on her way to her parents' house. Her relative Mahidar Reddy was driving her home on his two-wheeler.

As they reached Narnepadu Major canal at Muppalla mandal, the woman asked Mahidar to stop the vehicle and immediately jumped into the canal. Mahidar Reddy, shocked by the unexpected turn of events, also jumped into the canal to rescue her. However, as fate would have it, both were swept away by the strong water currents in the canal which was in full flow. They were drowned to death.

The police rushed to the spot and found the dead bodies of the two after extensive search operations.
