Young businessman dies by suicide over online betting losses in Siddipet
A young businessman from Siddipet district consumed poison after losing Rs 26 lakh in online betting.
SIDDIPET: A young businessman from Rudraram village in Siddipet district allegedly died by suicide on Thursday after losing a substantial amount of money in online betting.
The incident occurred in Akbarpet-Bhoompally mandal, where the victim, identified as Idari Naveen (27), consumed poison following financial distress due to betting losses.
According to Mirudoddi Sub-Inspector B. Parashuramulu, Naveen was involved in the sale of agricultural chemical fertilizers in his village and lived with his family. Seeking an easy way to make quick money, Naveen became addicted to online betting, eventually accumulating debts amounting to Rs 26 lakh.
Unable to find a way out of his financial troubles, Naveen consumed pesticide on Thursday in an attempt to end his life. Family members rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed on the way. His wife Radhika lodged a complaint, following which the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Naveen is survived by his wife and a two-year-old son. The body has been sent to Dubbak Area Hospital for postmortem.
