HYDERABAD: A young girl was killed and five others injured when a fire broke out in a three-story commercial-cum-residential apartment building in Ziaguda, Hyderabad.

The fire, which started late Tuesday night, is believed to have originated in a sofa-making godown on the ground floor. The blaze quickly spread through the building, trapping residents inside. The young girl, identified as Shivpriya, tragically lost her life. Five others, reportedly members of the same family, sustained injuries.

Alerted by residents, fire brigade units rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames and rescue those trapped. Quick-thinking locals used ropes to evacuate approximately 25 people from the building, potentially preventing further casualties.

The injured were transported to Osmania Hospital for treatment. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire.
