Young men conned by club with help of girls using dating app
The girl charmed him and ordered drinks, racking up a Rs 40,505 bill. Suspecting a scam, he found similar Google reviews.
HYDERABAD: A new type of dating scam has emerged in Hyderabad, targeting young men using dating apps.
Several young men have been installing dating apps in hopes of finding love. One such incident involved a boy who met a girl named Ritika on Tinder. The day after their initial contact, Ritika asked him to meet at the Hi-Tech City Metro Station.
The following day, the pair met at the metro station, and Ritika suggested they visit a famous club in the adjacent Galleria Mall. The boy agreed and accompanied her to the club.
Once inside, Ritika charmed him with sweet words and ordered expensive drinks, racking up a bill of Rs 40,505. When the boy grew suspicious, he checked the club's Google reviews and discovered another user had been similarly cheated. He then realized that the club, in collusion with the girl, was running a scam.
Many others have fallen victim to this scheme, losing between Rs 20,000 and Rs 40,000.
Youth have been advised to exercise caution when using dating apps and meeting strangers.
