BRS faces major setback as six MLCs defect to Congress

Six MLCs from the BRS joined the Congress in Hyderabad in a late-night induction with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy present.

HYDERABAD: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) suffered a significant setback when six MLCs defected to the Congress party on Thursday past midnight. The entire process was conducted smoothly and without any rush.

At 1 a.m., in the presence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and state Congress affairs in-charge Deepa Dasmunshi, the MLCs adorned the Congress khandwas. The defecting MLCs included Bhanu Prasad, Baswaraj Saraiah, Dande Vithal, MS Prabhakar, Yegge Mallesham, and Boggarapu Dayanand.

The MLCs gathered at a hotel in Hyderabad on Thursday evening and proceeded to CM Revanth's residence in Jubilee Hills around 11:30 p.m. When the Chief Minister returned from his visit to Delhi, they officially joined the Congress party.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, former minister Sudarshan Reddy, senior Congress leader Surender Reddy, and other leaders were present. The induction program was completed within minutes of the Chief Minister's arrival from Delhi.

Previously, six BRS MLAs had already joined the Congress. They are Danam Nagender, Kadiam Srihari, Tellam Venkatarao, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and Kale Yadayah. Additionally, Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy's son, Amit, also joined the Congress.
