HYDERABAD: Nalgonda Superintendent Engineer (SE) Paul Raj from the electricity department was suspended after a controversy erupted over the omission of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's photograph from an official booklet.

The incident occurred during a review meeting held on Friday, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and SLBC project officials, to inspect the tunnel work.

SE Paul Raj had prepared a booklet with detailed information about the progress of the SLBC tunnel and electricity department works. The booklet featured photos of Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, district in-charge Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, and other officials. However, CM Revanth Reddy's photograph was absent, leading to complaints from higher authorities.

Following these complaints, TSSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Musharaff Ali Farooqui issued suspension orders for SE Paul Raj on Saturday. Despite the booklet receiving approval from the TSSPDCL CMD office, the omission of Revanth Reddy's photo led to immediate action without issuing a show-cause notice or seeking an explanation from the SE.

The decision to suspend the SE has sparked discontent among the electricity department's engineers, who expressed anger over the lack of proper procedure before the suspension, calling it unjustified and hasty.
