NEW DELHI: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to grant funds and support for modernising and enhancing Telangana's intelligence and security infrastructure.

Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, Revanth Reddy raised several issues related to state security and administrative efficiency.

The Chief Minister requested an allocation of Rs 88 crore for the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGNAB) and Rs 90 crore for the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB). These funds are aimed at acquiring modern technological infrastructure and equipment essential for effectively combating drugs and cybercrime.

He also appealed for a review of the IPS cadre last conducted in 2016. He highlighted the shortage of IPS officers and urged the Union Home Minister to allocate 29 IPS posts to Telangana beyond the 61 posts allocated during the state bifurcation.

To counter left-wing extremism, the Chief Minister proposed the establishment of CRPF Joint Task Force (JTF) camps in Kondawai village of Charla mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and Alubaka village of Venkatapuram mandal in Mulugu district. These camps are deemed crucial for controlling and eradicating Maoist movements, particularly in the Karre Gutta hills on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border.

Revanth Reddy requested the setup of security force camps in Adilabad, Mancherial, and Kommaram Bheem Asifabad districts, similar to those in Telangana's border states of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. He emphasised the need to reinstate these districts under the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme due to their previous classification as left-wing extremism-affected areas.

The Chief Minister highlighted the pending release of Rs 18.31 crore, which constitutes the Centre's 60% share of funds to Special Police Vehicles (SPVs). He also urged the relaxation of rules to include 1,065 personnel in SPVs, noting the unavailability of ex-soldiers and ex-policemen in Maoist-affected areas.

He stressed the need for an amicable settlement regarding the distribution of government buildings and corporations listed in Schedules 9 and 10 of the AP Reorganisation Act. He urged the Union Home Minister to ensure justice for Telangana amidst claims by Andhra Pradesh on properties not mentioned in the Act.
