1 killed as burning garbage heap explodes in Krishna district

VIJAYAWADA: One person was killed and another injured following an explosion in a garbage mound that was set on fire in NTR Krishna district on Thursday. The incident happened along the Sitaramapuram highway in Bapulapadu mandal. Reportedly, the garbage was set on fire as usual but the explosion that took place all of a sudden with deafening noise has shaken the neighbourhood. The explosion triggered suspicions that a bomb could have been planted in the heap of garbage and set off intentionally.

The impact of the explosion was so enormous that it had shattered an iron rod into pieces. The Veeravalli Police reached the spot and examined the site. The identity of the deceased was yet to be known while the injured was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
