4,02,21,450 voters in AP, women outnumber men

AMARAVATI: The total number of electorate, including general electors and service voters, in Andhra Pradesh as of October 27, 2023 is 4,02,21,450, according to the draft electoral rolls under the Special Summary Revision (SSR) - 2024 released by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena on Friday.
In an official statement, Mukesh Meena Kumar said that in the draft rolls, the number of women voters was more than men. While the total number of women voters was 2,03,85,851, men voters were 1,98,31,791. The number of transgender voters was 3,808. Among the total electorate, service voters were 68,158, he said, and added that Ananthapuram had the highest number of voters-19,79,775 and Alluri Sitarama Raju district had the lowest number of voters-7,40,857.
The CEO said that voters list revision was conducted at all levels from January 6, 2023 to August 30, 2023 in the State and reexamined the removal of as many as 21,18,940 voters. He also said that as many as 2,51,767 voters were identified with zero door numbers in the door-to-door survey conducted in August. Apart from that, more than 10 voters were identified in as many as 1,57,939 houses. A special drive would be conducted to reduce the number of voters to 66,740 and the houses with more than 10 voters were also inspected and it was reduced to 71,581, he said.
Mukesh Kumar Meena said that due to freezing of the Roll on September 18, the process with respect to the remaining houses was not completed, which would be taken up again in a campaign mode. All the eligible youth who attain the age of 18 years on April 1, 2024, July 1, 2024 or October 1, 2024 those who missed out on earlier occasions, could file their applications for enrollment. The last date for receiving claims and objections was December 9, 2023, he added.
