KURNOOL: Anjali Sarvani, hailing from Adoni in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, has made it to the Indian women's cricket team for the upcoming T20 series against Australia. The 25-year-old, who is cricket fanatic from childhood, was picked in the team announced by the BCCI. The five-match series is scheduled to begin on December 9, 2022.

Her selection into the senior team is a matter of pride, not just for Adoni, a quiet town in Kurnool district, but for the entire Andhra Pradesh. The young cricketer's father is a teacher and her mother, a housewife. Observing Anjali's keen interest in cricket, her father enrolled her in a cricket institute very early in her life. Anjali is a great admirer of Yuvraj Singh and like her idol, she too is an all-rounder.

Anjali first caught everyone's attention in 2012 when she was selected for the Indian U-19 women's team and since then she never looked back. She also played the Challenger's Trophy where she had the opportunity to share the dressing room with star cricketers like Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Sushma Verma.

The five-match series will be played entirely in Maharashtra, at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and Mumbai's renowned Brabourne Stadium. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team in the home series against the Aussie lasses. Smriti Mandhana is the vice-captain.
