GUNTUR: Seeking social change and the welfare of all the people, Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan performed ‘Dharma Parirakshana Yagam’ at his party office in Mangalagiri on Monday, June 6, 2023. Significantly, the yagam is being performed two days before the beginning of Pawan Kalyan’s yatra on his campaign chariot Varahi on June 14, 2023.

Turning up in traditional attire, the actor-turned-politician began the yagam with ‘Ganapathi Puja’ exactly at 6.55 am. The yagam, according to party sources, was aimed at praying to the almighty to protect people from natural calamities and also to protect dharma. Pawan Kalyan has prayed to the god for the health and prosperity of people.

As part of the ritual, the Ritwiks set up idols of five gods and goddesses at the pedestal in the yagashala, each governing one aspect. ‘Yantra sthapana’ was undertaken in front of Lord Ganapathi for stability, Chandi Mata for the defeat of enemies, Shiva and Parvathi for prosperity, Sun god for health, and Lord Maha Vishnu for protection of Dharma.

The rituals that began on Monday based on ‘vigraha, yantra and homa’ will continue on Tuesday.

Party sources said that Pawan Kalyan alone participated in the yaga and in a simple manner. The yagashala was decorated with traditional mango leaves, floral garlands and branches of banana trees spreading a positive vibe all around.
