Andhra Pradesh Govt to join hands with EFLU to train students in foreign languages

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government will soon collaborate with the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) to offer training in select foreign languages to students and other skilled people.

As a first step in this direction, a delegation led by Principal Secretary (school education) S Suresh Kumar, IAS visited the EFL University campus on Tuesday. He held discussions with EFLU vice chancellor Prof E Suresh Kumar to explore the possibilities of collaboration and work out modalities for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

In response to the request from the Andhra Pradesh Government, the vice chancellor said, “The EFLU, known for its global eminence in teaching, research, and training in English and foreign languages, is ready to offer training to students and other skilled workforce, interested in working abroad, in foreign languages such as German, French, Spanish, Korean, Japanese etc.” Suresh Kumar said that it was a good initiative on the part of Andhra Pradesh Government to get their students and other skilled workforce trained in foreign languages and enable them in getting better employment opportunities abroad.

Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar said, “The State Government is keen to build a sustainable and long term collaboration with the EFLU in offering foreign language training courses to students, teacher trainers, and the skilled workforce. The world is looking at India for a skilled and talented workforce.” He added that foreign language training plays a pivotal role in exploring such global opportunities. India would soon emerge as the human resources exporting hub.

Suresh Kumar said that countries like Germany urgently need to recruit thousands of nurses and other healthcare workers who possess knowledge of the German language. Senior officials from the education department accompanied the Principal Secretary during his visit to Hyderabad.
