CID has arrested TDP politburo member and former minister Ayyannapatrudu and his son Chintakayala Rajesh over the allegations of submitting forged documents
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Crime Investigation Department has arrested TDP politburo member and former minister Ayyannapatrudu and his son Chintakayala Rajesh over the allegations of submitting forged documents in the demolition of a house wall on Thursday.
The CID, which registered nonbailable cases against the duo, has served notices before the arrest. It is learned that the CID police had entered into Ayyannapatrudu's house by jumping compound walls and taking him into custody despite the locals obstructing them.
The former minister's wife Padmavati after the arrest of her husband spoke to the media and leveled allegations against police and the government stating that there was a threat to her husband and son. She said that the government was harassing her family for the last three years and asserted that the government should be held responsible if anything happened to her husband.
Padmavati further alleged that the police had not even given time to change the clothes and forcibly took him into custody.
Meanwhile, TDP President and former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu condemned the arrest of former minister Ayyannapatrudu and termed it as an attack on a BC leader and suppression of their voice. Lashing out at Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said that the latter was acting with vengeance against Ayyannapatrudu's family for the last three years and filing false cases.
Naidu fumed at CID police alleging of not following the rules despite High Court's comments and demanded an immediate release of Ayyannapatrudu and his son Rajesh.
