VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Ministers Anitha, Narayana, and Anagani Satya Prasad accused YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief YS Jagan of making baseless statements about the coalition government's flood relief efforts.

Addressing the media in Vijayawada on Wednesday, the ministers claimed that Jagan’s frustration stems from his party winning only 11 assembly seats in the last elections.

The ministers criticised YSRCP leaders for engaging in slow and unfounded criticism while the state faced severe losses due to floods and heavy rains. They noted that many Vijayawada residents were stranded in floodwaters for days, but the government responded promptly to provide relief. According to the ministers, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's timely instructions to his ministers and officials ensured effective flood management, minimising inconvenience to the public.

They highlighted that over 10,000 officials, employees, and staff worked tirelessly during the floods, with around Rs 602 crore spent on flood relief so far. The funds were allocated for food (Rs 92.5 crore), drinking water (Rs 11.2 crore), medical care (Rs 4.55 crore), and sanitation (Rs 22.56 crore).

Refuting allegations that Rs 23 crore was spent on candles and streetlights, the ministers claimed that the actual expense was Rs 23 lakh. They also accused YS Jagan of spreading false information and compared his spending to wasteful luxuries, asserting that their government is not involved in any corruption.

The ministers urged YSRCP to stop making baseless accusations and focus on constructive actions.
