AP Speaker asks rebel YSRCP, TDP MLAs to appear for hearing on January 29

Earlier this week, notices were sent to eight MLAs. Also, it is being reported that the Legislative Council chairman has sent notices to two MLCs.

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Speaker Thammineni Seetharam has convened a meeting for YSRCP and TDP MLAs who have defected to other parties in the State in the last four-and-a-half years on January 29, 2024. Orders have been issued to the MLAs to appear before the Speaker's office on that date. According to notice, action would be initiated against those who do not attend the meeting.

Earlier this week, notices were sent to eight MLAs. Also, it is being reported that the Legislative Council chairman has sent notices to two MLCs.

Notices were sent to YSRCP rebel MLAs including Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy, Undavalli Sridevi, Anam Ramanarayan Reddy, Kotam Reddy Sridhar Reddy who joined the TDP and TDP rebel MLAs Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Karanam Balaram, Vasupalli Ganesh and Maddali Giridhar who defected to the YSRCP.

The defected MLAs were asked to submit their explanations within seven days on why they had changed parties. If they do not give valid reasons, they would be liable for disqualification from the Assembly membership.
