Atleast 5.64 lakh ineligible voters deleted from electoral list in AP

Of the 14.48 lakh voters who have been identified in the complaints received from all the political parties, at least 5.64 lakh names have been declared ineligible and deleted.

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena has said that of the 14.48 lakh voters who have been identified in the complaints received from all the political parties, atleast 5.64 lakh names have been declared ineligible and deleted.

He also said that voters who have expired along with duplicate votes have been removed from the voters list.

The CEO shared these details in a presentation on the second day of meeting to explain the preparedness of Andhra Pradesh for elections to the Central Election Commission.

Mukesh explained that various complaints received until December 9 have been resolved. "17,976 applications received after December 9 will also be resolved within a day or two," he added.

Mukesh said action is being initiated against those filing fake Form-7 and that cases have already been registered in Kakinada, Parchuru and Guntur West.

"The Returning Officers (ROs) of Uravakonda and Proddutur constituencies, Parchuru assitant ROs, one inspector and three SIs have been suspended. Disciplinary action has been ordered against 50 Booth Level Officers (BLOs)," he said.

Mukesh explained to the CEC that transfers were being monitored as per the instructions of the Election Commission. The meeting was attended by the Nodal Officer of the State, police department and the nodal officers of the Central Police Force. The CEC officials have been given several instructions on the security measures to be taken from the time of implementation of the Election Code to the conduct of the elections.
