Centre says no proposal yet to shift AP High Court from Amaravati to Kurnool
Centre stated that both the Andhra Pradesh Government and High Court have to form their opinion regarding shifting of High Court to Kurnool and submit a complete proposal to them
VIJAYAWADA: The Centre has clarified on Friday that there is no proposal pending with them over shifting of Andhra Pradesh High Court from Amaravati to Kurnool.
Responding to a question posed by YSRCP MP Talari Rangaiah, the Ministry of Law and Justice said, "The Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh in February, 2020, has proposed for shifting of principal seat of Andhra Pradesh High Court from Amaravati to Kurnool. Shifting of principal seat of High Court is decided by the State Government in consultation with the concerned High Court. The State Government is responsible for meeting the expenditure for running the High Court. Similarly, the Chief Justice of the concerned High Court is responsible for running the day to day administration. In the present matter, both the State Government of Andhra Pradesh and High Court have to form their opinion regarding shifting of High Court to Kurnool and submit a complete proposal to the Government of India. At present, there is no complete proposal pending with the Government."
