Chandrababu has no right to use NTR’s pictures: Lakshmi Parvathi

VIJAYAWADA: In a sensational claim on the occasion of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s birth centenary, Andhra Pradesh Telugu Academy Chairperson and widow of the iconic leader has said that late Devineni Nehru was the true heir of NTR as he stood by the latter until death.

Lakshmi Parvathi participated in the centenary celebrations of the legendary actor and the TDP patriarch along with film director Ramgopal Varma and YSRCP former ministers Kodali Nani and Parni Nani at the NTR Vignan Trust under the auspices of Devineni Nehru Charitable Trust in Vijayawada on Sunday. Speaking on this occasion, Lakshmi Parvathi lashed out at TDP President Chandrababu Naidu for his pretentious respect for NTR after backstabbing him and grabbing power and the party from the latter.

Addressing the gathering, the AP Telugu Academy Chairperson said that she was very happy to see the NTR birth anniversary celebrations being conducted in Vijayawada and became emotional on the occasion. She said that she was exhausted in her fight for justice for NTR as there was no one to back her those days. In a veiled attack on NTR’s children for merely being his children and, in a sensational comment, said that Devineni Nehru was the only true heir of NTR since he stood by the leader till his last breath.

Taking a dig at Chandrababu and Nara Lokesh, Lakshmi Parvathi questioned how the father-son duo could claim that they inherited the political legacy of the legendary actor even after harassing and backstabbing the TDP patriarch. She said that the father-son duo, who destroyed the ambitions of NTR, had no right to put out their portraits along with those of NTR.

Lakshmi Parvathi hailed YS Jaganmohan Reddy for naming a district after NTR. She said that she was indebted to director Ramgopal Varma for showcasing her life to the public through the film ‘Lakshmi's NTR’ and also thanked Posani Krishna Murali for standing by her like a brother during adversities when some people resorted to ‘character assassination’ against her.
