Chandrababu Naidu asks Modi to declare Cyclone Michaung national disaster, seeks aid to affected people

AMARAVATI: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce cyclonic storm Michaung as national disaster and extend aid to those affected people.
Naidu on Sunday wrote a letter to the Prime Minister and said that the cyclonic storm had left its impact in 15 districts across Andhra Pradesh. The crops were damaged in over 22 lakh acres, besides causing a huge loss to the people and livestock, he said and added that six people succumbed during the cyclone.
The TDP president mentioned that the crop loss was estimated around Rs 10,000 crore. Apart from that, around 770 km of roads were damaged badly. Drinking water, irrigation, electricity and communication sectors were also affected, he said. “Not only the agriculture sector, the aqua farmers were also affected during the cyclonic storm. Central teams should visit the State to estimate the loss,” Naidu added.
