AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh is bracing for a potential cyclone as a surface-level circulation has developed over the southern Bay of Bengal on October 12.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this system is expected to intensify into a depression and eventually develop into a cyclonic storm as it moves westward over the southwest Bay of Bengal.

The Visakhapatnam Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory for fishermen, urging them not to venture into the sea between October 14 and 16 due to rough conditions.

The cyclone is likely to bring heavy rainfall to coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema districts during this period. The IMD has warned of widespread downpours in these regions, with the potential for extremely heavy rainfall in some areas.

The formation of cyclones in the Bay of Bengal during October is not uncommon, and residents are being advised to stay alert and prepared for any further updates.
