HYDERABAD: The Indian Meteorological Department has announced that heavy rains were likely to occur in the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the next two days due to the cyclonic effect in the Bay of Bengal. The cyclonic circulation is located at 600 km east of Jaffna (Sri Lanka), 630 km east southeast of Karaikal and 670 km of Chennai.
The officials of the meteorological centre have announced that it would further strengthen in the next 24 hours and was likely to move west-northwestward before gradually turning into a low pressure in Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal.
As a result of this, heavy rains will occur in Prakasam, Nellore, and Tirupati districts of South Coastal Andhra and Chittoor, YSR Kadapa and Annamayya districts of Rayalaseema. The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Organisation has been alerted to take precautions and fishermen were warned not to venture into the sea along the South Coast-Tamil Nadu coast till Tuesday.
