TIRUMALA: A devotee from Khammam by the name of Rahul Reddy, who allegedly filmed the sanctum of Lord Sri Venkateswara Temple or Ananda Nilayam in Tirumala recently, was apprehended by the TTD vigilance team. The vigilance department made use of the CCTV footage to track him down. The accused will be interrogated by the Tirupati police.
Speaking to media persons after the Dial Your EO programme at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala on Friday, TTD EO AV Dharma Reddy said that action would also be initiated against the on-duty security staff at the scanning areas for the lapse in checking on that day.
The Chief Vigilance and Security Officer (CVSO) is also instructed to study a more mechanised and quick way of checking the devotees akin to the airport model so that the TTD can provide darshan to not less than 5,000-5,500 devotees in an hour after thorough checking in the scan area. “For that, we have also consulted Central and State IB teams who will be visiting Tirumala by next week", he added.
