NELLORE: In swift action, the Kandukuru police rescued a 32-year-old differently-abled woman from an attempted abduction and sexual assault by three persons in the town in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. The incident happened near a petrol bunk on the Machavaram Road in Kandukur of Nellore district. The three accused were subsequently arrested.

Speaking to NewsTAP, Kandukur Town SI Kishore Babu said that the incident happened at around 12 am, when the victim was walking back home after finishing work due to unavailability of transportation. At that moment, three persons, traveling in an autorickshaw, noticed the victim walking alone on the road. They attempted to abduct her in their three-wheeler as part of the plan to sexually assault her in a desolate area. However, the woman managed to escape from their clutches and ran into a petrol bunk. Alert petrol bunk staff dialed the DISHA SOS.
