Electric Bus skids into gorge on Tirumala Ghat road, inquiry ordered

HYDERABAD: An electric bus carrying devotees from Tirumala to Tirupati hit a hairpin divider and fell into the wayside gorge on Wednesday afternoon. Several passengers and the driver of the bus were hurt and were admitted to the Ruia hospital.
The electric bus carrying 45 passengers was returning from Tirumala and met with the accident when the bus was negotiating a deep curve at the 29-30 turning point. After hitting the divider the bus fell into the gorge.
Special Protection Force (SPF) personnel who were also passing by, jumped into rescue action. They broke the glass windows of the bus and brought the passengers out safely.
Later TTD EO Dharma Reddy visited the spot and ordered an inquiry. He said that a closer look was needed before establishing the reason for the accident, as there were 10 electric buses with the TTD and 65 with the APSRTC Tirupati depot.
