Food poisoning: 25 students of Kothavalasa BC Girls Hostel fall sick
As many as 25 students of BC Girls Hostel in Kothavalasa of Vizianagaram district fell sick and unconscious due to suspected food poisoning on Tuesday
VIZIANAGARAM: As many as 25 students of BC Girls Hostel in Kothavalasa of Vizianagaram district fell sick and unconscious due to suspected food poisoning on Tuesday. The girl students began experiencing complications after eating jaggery-based peanut bars and tamarind rice for breakfast in the morning. While some students suffered from vomitings, a few others fainted on their way to the school. They were quickly shifted to the nearest Government Primary Health Centre.
As per available information, out of the 25 students who fell sick, seven girls became seriously ill prompting the authorities to shift three of them to Sringavarapukota Primary Health Centre and the remaining four to Pendurthi Primary Health Centre.
Meanwhile, Kolla Lalitha Kumari TDP in-charge of Shringavarapukota Constituency, and Kolla Balaji Appala Ramprasad, State Executive Secretary of Telugu Desam Party, visited the Kothavalasa Primary Health Centre and met the students undergoing treatment. They enquired about their health condition and advised the doctors to provide better treatment and shift the students to another hospital, if possible.
Kolla Lalitha Kumari, who spoke to the media, requested the MEO, school headmaster and hostel warden to ensure that such incidents were not repeated. They urged the doctors to provide better treatment to the students.
