VIJAYAWADA: Four newly-appointed additional judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court were sworn in by Governor S Abdul Nazeer at a brief ceremony at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram here on Saturday.

The four additional judges were Harinath Nunepally, Kiranmayee Mandava aka Kiranmayee Kanaparthy, Sumathi Jagadam and Nyapathy Vijay. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and High Court Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur attended the brief ceremony.

On October 18, the President of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, notified the elevation of four lawyers as additional judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Currently, the Andhra Pradesh High Court is functioning with 27 judges as opposed to its sanctioned strength of 37 judges. With the inclusion of four additional judges, the total strength of judges in the High Court reached 30.

Justice C Manavendranath Roy and Duppala Venkata Ramana of the AP High Court were transferred to Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Justice Narendra G of Karnataka High Court was transferred to Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier, before the swearing-in ceremony, YS Jagan called on the Governor at the Raj Bhavan.
