AMARAVATI: Actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan who's known as powerstar and known for his cult fan following among the Telugu States turned out to be a game changer in Andhra Pradesh Elections 2024.

Pawan Kalyan proved to be the lone game changer by offering support to Chandrababu Naidu when he was incarcerated in Rajahmundry central prison. The Jana Sena chief went to the prison for a mulaqat and announced the tie up with the TDP even before he discussed it with the BJP. That press conference outside the prison with Lokesh and Balakrishna was the biggest turning point in the fortunes of the TDP-Jana Sena combo and the BJP emerged an incidental beneficiary.

The 55-year-old politician, known for his philanthropic nature, won all 21 Assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats his party contested in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Kalyan's political journey began in 2008 as the president of Yuvarajyam, the youth wing of the Praja Rajyam Party founded by his elder brother, megastar Chiranjeevi. However, he later founded his own party Janasena in the year 2014. Despite forming his own party in 2014, it took him 10 years to achieve significant success and win his first seat in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Despite initial struggles, Kalyan's persistence paid off in this election cycle.

Kalyan secured a notable victory in the Pithapuram constituency, defeating YSRCP's Vanga Geetha Viswanatham by a margin of nearly 70,354 votes in Andhra Pradesh elections in 2024. This win was particularly significant given that Vanga Geetha had been promised the deputy chief minister post by the outgoing chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Even though Pawan Kalyan started his journey alone 10 years ago, he formed the TDP-Janasena-BJP alliance ahead of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections and ensured that his party won all the seats.

Kalyan's dynamic campaign, which included the 'Varahi Vijayabheri' Yatra, road shows, rallies, and public meetings, energised his supporters and broadened his appeal.

Critics often labeled Kalyan a part-time politician due to his continued involvement in the film industry. However, his electoral success in 2024 has proven his political mettle. Congratulations have poured in from Tollywood celebrities, filmmakers, politicians, and his dedicated supporters.

As the newly elected MLA from Pithapuram, Kalyan received congratulations from Tollywood celebrities, filmmakers, politicians, and his ardent supporters. His supporters are now eagerly anticipating his next steps, whether it be joining TDP president Nara Chandrababu Naidu's cabinet or fulfilling their dream of him becoming Andhra Pradesh's deputy chief minister.
