Pepper Motion was gearing up to lay the foundation stone for setting up the world's largest electric bus manufacturing unit in 800 acres with an investment of Rs 4,640 crore at Punganur in Chittoor district
AMARAVATI: German-based renowned electric bus and truck manufacturer Pepper Motion CEO Andreas Hager on Wednesday met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office in Tadepalli.
Pepper Motion was gearing up to lay the foundation stone for setting up the world's largest electric bus manufacturing unit in 800 acres with an investment of Rs 4,640 crore at Punganur in Chittoor district. The electric buses manufacturing unit would provide employment to around 8,100 people.
YS Jagan informed the Pepper Motion representatives on the measures being taken by the Andhra Pradesh Government on green energy, industrial policies, single window permits and transparent policies. Andreas Hager told the Chief Minister that the company would set up the unit with a capacity to manufacture 30,000 electric buses and trucks per annum.
Hager also said that the company would also establish an integrated vertical production facility, manufacturing of electric buses and trucks from 20 GWH capacity batteries, setting up a unit with international standards, retrofitting diesel buses and trucks to electric vehicles, and manufacturing of 20 GWH capacity batteries.
“We are very happy to set up a world class unit in Andhra Pradesh. Our company is going to set up the unit with the most advanced technology, vehicles will be manufactured from our unit to bring a decarbonized public transport system as required for public transport,” Andreas Hager said and added that setting up a unit in AP was the right decision by the company.
The Pepper Motion CEO said, “The unit is coming up close to Bengaluru and Chennai cities. The support given to us by the Andhra Pradesh Government is unforgettable. I am very thankful to the Chief Minister and am impressed by his visionary thinking and policies. The company will also partner in Asia, Middle East and Africa through the Global Center of Excellence being set up in Andhra Pradesh.”
Rajampet MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy, Dr Mathias Kerler (Pepper Motion CTO), finance director Uwe Stelter, Urth Electronic India MD Harsha Adya, Pepper Motion CIO Rajasekhar Reddy Nallapareddy, CSO Satya Bulusu, CCO Ravi Shankar and officials from the CMO were also present.
