Heavy rains lash coastal Andhra Pradesh, more rains likely on May 4

HYDERABAD: Heavy rains, thundershowers and lightning will lash isolated parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh on May 4, 2023.
Isolated areas in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh(NCAP), Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema received intermittent rainfall on Wednesday.
Heavy rainfall was reported in isolated areas of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitaramaraju, East Godavari and West Godavari districts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.
Thunderstorms with lightning and strong gusty winds of 40-50 kmph were experienced in isolated regions across NCAP and Yanam, SCAP and in isolated portions of Rayalaseema.
As moisture enters directly from this zone on Wednesday, heavy to very heavy downpour was reported in Visakhapatnam city and districts such as Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Alluri seetha Ramaraju, Parvathipuram Manyam, Eluru, Krishna and Konaseema, said Sai Praneeth, Andhra weatherman.
He said that the districts of NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, Nellore, Tirupati, Annamayya, Nandyala, Kadapa and Kurnool might see scattered rainfall from afternoon to night on May 3, 2023.
"Visakhapatnam city and nearby places witnessed intermittent rains for two hours beginning Wednesday afternoon. There will be passing showers for 5-10 minutes in several sections of the city, with drizzle in others. Every resident of Vizag should carry an umbrella until midnight because the rains aren't planning on leaving Vizag today," Sai Praneeth said.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are expected at isolated locations over NCAP, Yanam and SCAP on May 4, according to IMD Andhra Pradesh.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty gusts of 30-40 kmph are possible in isolated areas in Rayalaseema on May 4,2023. Gusty winds with a speed of 40-50 Kmph are likely at isolated places in all the districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh. In Rayalaseema districts, the speed of the winds may range between 30-40 kmph at isolated places.

May 5: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning likely at isolated places over NCAP and Yanam,SCAP and Rayalaseema.
May 6: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning likely at isolated places over SCAP and Rayalaseema.
May 7: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning likely at isolated places over SCAP and Rayalaseema.
