It’s official now, Mudragada Padmanabham became Padmanabha Reddy

AMARAVATI: With his prophecy of Pawan Kalyan’s defeat in Pitahapuram backfiring and the actor-turned-politician winning the seat with a thumping majority, Kapu leader and former Minister Mudragada Padmanabham changed his name to Padmanabha Reddy as challenged by him before elections.

 

On March 15, 2024, Mudragada and his son Giri joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in the presence of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office at Tadepalli. Later addressing a public meeting he challenged that he would change his name to Reddy by removing Rao denoting his caste.

On June 4, 2024, after the results were declared, he held a press meeting and confirmed initiating formalities to change his name.

In the latest development, the Andhra Pradesh Government Gazette officially recognized his new name as Padmanabha Reddy. “I Mudragada Padmanabham son of Veera Raghava Rao shall henceforth be known as Mudragada Padmanabha Reddy,” the Andhra Pradesh Gazette dated June 19, 2024 said.
