Kesineni Nani’s daughter Swetha resigns as corporator, quits TDP

VIJAYAWADA: Following her father Kesineni Nani’s footsteps Telugu Desam Party (TDP) corporator in Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Kesineni Swetha resigned from the post and also primary membership of TDP citing personal reasons. She was the corporator of the 11th division of VMC.

She along with her followers went to the VMC office, met Mayor Rayana Bhagya Lakshmi, and submitted her resignation letter. She then sent her resignation letter to TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Her father and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani posted this news on his Facebook account this morning. Kesineni Nani announced his intention to quit TDP on Saturday after the party asked him to stay away from a public meeting to be addressed by TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu in Tiruvuru.

Before resigning from her corporator post, she went to the residence of Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan and sought his advice. It was said that Rammohan asked to reconsider her decision.

“We never wanted to leave TDP. But when the party doesn’t want you to continue, there is no meaning in staying,” she said. She said that she contested as a corporator despite knowing well that her life could be in trouble under YS Jaga Mohan Reddy's Government.

She said that her father would announce his future course of action after resigning from the party membership and also after consulting his followers. She said that her father continued in TDP despite ill-treatment meted out by the party during the past year.

Swetha was the front-runner as a TDP candidate for the Mayor post of VMC. However, she could not become one with the TDP failing to garner enough seats. Her chances were sabotaged by
