Line cleared for Bhogapuram Airport as AP HC dismisses pleas

AMARAVATI: The legal hurdles have been cleared for the construction of the Bhogapuram Greenfield Airport in Vizianagaram district with the Andhra Pradesh High Court lifting earlier interim orders. The court also dismissed all the petitions filed against the proposed project.
Earlier, the farmers had filed a petition claiming that the notification for the new airport was invalid. But several farmers subsequently withdrew from the case after the government paid compensation to them. The High Court dismissed the petitions of the rest of the farmers.
An agreement has already been signed with the GMR group for the construction of the Bhogapuram Greenfield Airport. With the High Court removing all hurdles in its way, the works regarding the same may commence soon. The High Court has also removed a stay that was ordered in the past.
