JAMMU: The ‘maha samprokshanam’ ritual at Sri Venkateswara temple in Jammu will be performed on June 8, 2023 and henceforth, devotees visiting Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra will have the blessings of Lord Sri Venkateswara too, Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) Chairman YV Subba Reddy has said.

YV Subba Reddy, along with TTD officials and local administration authorities, inspected the SV temple at Majeen in Jammu on Tuesday. Later speaking to mediapersons, he said that the TTD had taken up the construction of Srivari temples across cities for the benefit of those who could not visit Tirumala for a darshan of the Lord. "So far, we have constructed temples in Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar while temples are coming up in Mumbai, Raipur and Ahmedabad in near future. Apart from cities, to take forward Hindu Sanatana Dharma Prachara to the grassroots level, we have also constructed Lord Sri Venkateswara (Balaji) temples at agency and remote areas like Seetampeta, Rampachodavaram and others in Andhra Pradesh", he informed.

The TTD Chairman further said that the Jammu and Kashmir administration had allotted over 62 acres of land and that the temple was constructed at a cost of Rs 30 crores. Besides the main temple, sub-shrines, potu-kitchen area, annaprasadam counter, parking lot and landscapes will also come up soon, he added.

On the ‘maha samprokshanam’, YV Subba Reddy said that the religious ritual would last for five days from June 4 till June 8 with ‘ankurarpanam’ slated for June 3. On June 8, ‘vigraha pratistha’ will also be performed during the auspicious time, he added. The devotees will be allowed for Lord's darshan from 12 noon onwards on May 8. “As the temple is located away from the city, we have sought the Jammu administration to provide round-the-clock security," he said.

The Local Advisory Committee Chairman of Delhi Vemireddi Prasanti Reddy, Joint Executive Officer of TTD Sri Veerabrahmam, Chief Vigilance and Security Officer Narasimha Kishore, SP of Jammu Rahul, TTD Chief Engineer Nageswara Rao, Superintending Engineer Satyanarayana and other officials were also present on this occasion.
