Mahashivratri fervour in Telugu states: Srisailam, Kotappakonda, Vemulawada sees huge rush

HYDERABAD: On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, devotees thronged Shiva temples across the Telugu states for offering prayers. The temples reverberated with chants of 'Om Namah Shivaya' as devotees paid visit to the deity from early morning.

Popular temples such as Srisailam, Kotappakonda in Andhra Pradesh and Sri Rajarajeshwara temple in Vemulawada witnessed a huge rush of devotees.

In Srisailam, the temple premises were abuzz with devotees participating in the Mahashivratri Brahmotsavams, with special rituals like Nandi Vahana Seva and the sacred bath in Pathala Ganga. The celebrations continued at Yaganti and Kalvabugga fields, where devotees partook in rituals and bathing ceremonies as a mark of reverence towards Lord Shiva.

In Palnadu, devotees celebrated Mahashivratri at Kotappakonda temple with fervent prayers and special poojas, ushering in a day of spiritual significance. The festivities continued at Pancharama Kshetra in Amaravati, where devotees sought blessings from Amareshwar, highlighting the unique confluence of Mahashivratri and Shanitrayodashi, believed to cleanse sins when worshipped in sequence.

The Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara temple in Telangana witnessed a surge in devotees on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, with the sanctum sanctorum filled with devotees offering prayers. Officials have diligently organised arrangements for a three-day fair to mark the festivities, ensuring a seamless experience for the devotees visiting the temple.

In Keesaragutta, located in Keesara mandal of Medchal district, the Brahmotsavams would be held till March 11, 2024. Along with two Dharmadarshan queues, a VIP queue has been set up separately. Temple chairman Tatakam Nagalinga Sharma said that packets of fresh water and buttermilk would be being distributed to the devotees in queues.
