NIA sleuths conduct raids across AP, arrest Maoist leader RK's wife in Tanguturu

VIJAYAWADA: Sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NSIA), who are investigating a conspiracy case registered on November 19, 2022, under Nagarnar police station of Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, conducted searches at many places across the state on Friday and arrested Maoist leader Late Rama Krishna alias RK's wife Shirisha alias Padma and others.

According to the information provided by locals and relatives, the NIA officials arrived at Tanguturu village in three private cars, without police uniform at 4:40 pm and forcibly took Shirisha and taken to the Tanguturu police station later she was shifted to another location in a special vehicle. However, the exact destination of her detainment is not yet known.

As the investigation agency did not give proper answers to the family members as to why Shirisha was arrested, Shirisha's family members along with Virasam leader Kalyana Rao went to Tanguturu police station and spoke to SI Sriram.

On the other hand, the NIA officials have arrested Duddu Prabhakar, state president of Kula Nirmulana Porata Samiti at his residence near Luna Center in Ajit Singh Nagar of Vijayawada around 4 pm. He was picked up in a car, which has no number plate.

Kalyana Rao, the Virasam leader who spoke to media at Tanguturu police station expressed his concern stating that NIA officers had arrived at their homes without any prior information and took Shirisha into custody. He found fault with the NIA for arresting a woman without informing her family and said that such illegal arrests undermine the principles of democracy.

Assistant Secretary of the Civil Rights Association M Anjaneyulu, the leader of the Revolutionary Writers' Association Arsavilli Krishna, the State General Secretary K. Pollari, a PDSU leader, and Sriramulu, the District President of Kula Nirmulana Porata Samithi A. Ravichandra issued a statement condemning the arrest of Duddu Prabhakar and demanded his immediate release.

In the recent past there were raids conducted at Shirisha's home by NIA. During the raids, Shirisha expressed her concern alleging that the investigation agency is harassing her despite being in grief over the loss of her husband and son and denied the accusations of sending money to the Maoists.
