NANDYAL: The residence of a banned Popular Front of India (PFI) activist and his kin were searched by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Allagadda of Nandyal district. The searches that began on Wednesday night continued till Thursday.

The NIA officials were conducting searches at the houses of relatives of Mohammed Yunus (33), a native of Nandyal, who was arrested by the central agency in June in connection with the Nizamabad terror conspiracy case.

The accused who was alleged as the master weapons trainer for the PFI was arrested in Karnataka where he was hiding. NIA said that Mohammed Yunus, who was arrested in the Nizamabad case, had allegedly hatched a conspiracy to radicalise youth and provide them with arms training to carry out terrorist activities.

In August the NIA searched a few houses in Kurnool and arrested two suspects. NIA also conducted simultaneous searches in the residence of another PFI man in Karimnagar of Telangana in August.
