RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rajahmahendravaram Central Prison M Ravi Kiran has said that the team of doctors from Government General Hospital who examined TDP president Chandrababu Naidu is healthy in jail. They added that after being thoroughly examined thrice by doctors, there is no necessity to admit him in the hospital.

A five-member team of doctors examined Naidu following the concerns raised by his family members over his deteriorating health in jail. Speaking to the media on Saturday, Ravi Kiran said that none of the officials were irresponsible towards Naidu and all security measures were kept in place for him round-the-clock. “We are all following the recommendations made by the doctors regarding Naidu’s health and the same will be submitted to the court,” he said.

The DIG said that Naidu is a high profile prisoner and the police handed over all the medical reports of Naidu to his advocates after getting consent from him. Dermatologists who examined Naidu made some recommendations to treat his skin allergy. Reacting to the doctor's suggestions to provide a cool environment for Naidu in jail, Ravi Kiran said that the police would act according to protocol and treat all the prisoners equally. “Rules will not permit the arrangement of air-conditioning facilities for Naidu in prison. If the court considers it as a special case, then it will be taken into consideration,” Ravi Kiran said.

Dr Siva Kumar of the doctors' team said that Naidu was suffering from skin allergy and he spoke to his team actively. Five doctors examined Naidu thoroughly who felt that there was no necessity to shift him to hospital. “We consulted the personal doctor’s team of Naidu and gave treatment to him. The doctor’s team is also unaware of diseases he is suffering from before being kept in jail,” he said, and ruled out suggesting steroids to him.

Meanwhile, the counsel for Chandrababu Naidu filed a house petition in the ACB special court seeking medical treatment for him at a corporate hospital.
