Tension prevailed once again in Gollapudi near Vijayawada after civic authorities began demolishing the TDP office citing lease issues
VIJAYAWADA: Tension prevailed once again in Gollapudi near Vijayawada on Thursday after civic authorities began demolishing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office citing lease issues. As a precautionary measure, the police kept a few TDP leaders including Devineni Umamaheswara Rao under house arrest.
Even on Wednesday, the TDP leaders, led by Devineni Uma, were stopped when they visited the party office in Gollapudi to pay their tributes to party founder NTR on his 27th death anniversary. Protesting against the police action, they conducted a blood donation camp on the road.
Policemen were deployed in large numbers to ward off any untoward incidents even as the civic authorities went on with their demolition drive against the TDP office. All thoroughfares leading to the office have also been closed for vehicular and public movement.
