Sand Scam: APCID books case against Chandrababu Naidu, three others based on complaint of APMDC
The APCID filed an FIR based on the complaint made by the APMDC that the former CM and the other accused intentionally caused a huge dent to the State exchequer to an extent of Rs 10,000 crore.
AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday booked a case against former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu (A2), Peetala Sujata (A1), Chintamaneni Prabhakar (A3) and Devineni Umamaheswara Rao (A4) and few others concerning with the illegal sand mining issue.
The APCID filed an FIR based on the complaint made by the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) that the former Chief Minister and the other accused who were part of the then State Government intentionally caused a huge dent to the State exchequer to an extent of Rs 10,000 crore.
The mineral corporation alleged that the accused resorted to corruption in the guise of free sand policy. The then TDP Government declared that sand shall be made available to the public without charging any fee from March 2, 2016.
The policy further stipulated that existin Sand reaches for which environmental clearance was available, should be opened up for free excavation and use of sand by the public within the state limits.
