Sharmila angry over police stopping her convoy, Vijayawada CP Kanthi Rana Tata clarifies
Commissioner Tata has clarified that any temporary halts experienced by the convoy were due to routine traffic management procedures, not intentional interference.
VIJAYAWADA: YS Sharmila, who is appointed as the APCC president, expressed anger over police stopping her convoy on her way to Kanuru from Gannavaram airport.
APCC chief Gidugu Rudraraju said that the police stopped the convoy near Enikepadu and diverted the vehicles. Rudraraju and other Congress leaders including Sunkara Padmasri sat on the road and protested the move by the police. “In a democracy, there is no place for monarchy,” an angry Sharmila said when the cadre brought to her notice that her half of the convoy was stopped and diverted.

However Vijayawada Commissioner of Police Kanti Rana Tata – responding to the allegations of the Congress leaders that Sharmila’s convoy was stopped said that Sharmila's convoy rally proceeded without any reported major disruptions in Vijayawada
