The request for transfer of the case to vacation bench and granting of interim bail for two weeks came from Naidu’s counsel who urged the court to consider the age of the accused and also the fact that he was incarcerated for more than 40 days.

However Additional Advocate General (AAG) Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy opposed the granting of interim bail and said that a similar request by Naidu’s counsel Harish Salve was dismissed by the Supreme Court bench.

Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu filed an interim bail petition in the Fibernet scam case in the Supreme Court. The move came after the Andhra Pradesh High Court disposed off a petition filed by Naidu seeking bail. A bench consisting of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela Trivedi would hear the petition (case number 9) on Friday.
