AMARAVATI: A bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and Sandeep Mehta hearing a petition filed by Namburi Sankara Rao against the interim protection granted to Macherla YCP MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy by the High Court directed the MLA not to enter the counting centre on June 4.

The bench also set aside the special leave petition filed by Sankara Rao calling the reason frivolous.

Advocates Adinarayana and Javvaji Sharath, appearing for the Election Commission of India (ECI), showed the videos of webcasting in which the YCP MLA could be seen destroying the EVM to the bench. The bench then asked Ramakrishna Reddy's lawyer to respond before passing the orders. The MLA’s counsel said that he would not make any observations on the video. The Apex court also directed the MLA to submit an affidavit that he would obey the direction of the Court.

The Supreme Court bench then urged the AP High Court to take an appropriate decision after considering all the facts in the next hearing.
