VIJAYAWADA: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, who pooh-poohed YS Jaganmohan Reddy's 'Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam' (Governance to every doorstep) initiative, were left embarrassed on Friday when the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders successfully handed over the certificate of benefit at the house of their firebrand leader Varla Ramaiah here.

The certificate of benefit was for Rythu Bharosa, one of the schemes from a basket of welfare initiatives being implemented by the YS Jagan's government. As part of the prestigious scheme, a cash incentive of Rs 13,500 is being given to the eligible farmers across Andhra Pradesh.

During the 'Gadapa Gadapaku..' initiative, YSRCP leaders, led by former minister Vellampally Srinivas, went around the colonies and personally handed over the certificates to the beneficiaries of the scheme. The YSRCP contingent also went to the house of Varla Ramaiah, TDP national secretary, to give away the Rythu Bharosa certificate to his wife, Jayaprada, who is a beneficiary of the scheme.

While no one from the Varla Ramaiah family emerged from the house, their driver showed up at the gate and quietly received the certificate, handed over by Vellampally Srinivas.

This was promptly captured by the prying cameras of the media and soon it became a talk of town, especially on social media platforms. A few ardent fans of the YSRCP had a field day seizing this opportunity to mock the TDP leaders and activists for their hypocrisy. They called out the TDP, especially Varla Ramaiah who prides himself on being a fire-brand leader of the party, for portraying Jagan's schemes in bad light on one side and enjoying the monetary benefits of the same schemes on the flipside.

Neither Varla Ramaiah nor his wife Jayaprada was yet to respond to the criticism in this regard.
