Telugu man from Andhra Pradesh shot dead in Dallas, USA, YS Jagan seeks Govt’s help

AMARAVATI: Dasari Gopikrishna (32), a resident of the Bapatla district in AP was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Dallas of the USA while he was manning the checkout counter at a convenience store on Saturday evening.

Gopikrishna, a native of Yazali in Karalapalem mandal, had gone to the US eight months ago in search of livelihood. The assailant came straight at him and shot him. Gopikrishna sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. The robber then took the items and fled the scene.

Thereafter, police arrived and he was shifted to the hospital. He died while undergoing treatment there on Sunday. His family members were shocked to hear the news. The deceased is survived by a wife and a son. A pall of gloom descended on Gopi's native village Yazali. The firing incident was recorded on the shop’s CCTV camera.

Meanwhile YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock over the death of Dasari Gopikrishna, in the shooting incident. Jaganmohan Reddy expressed shock over the incident.

He appealed to the state Government to stand by Gopikrishna's family and support them in every way. He requested the Ministry of External Affairs to provide all possible assistance to Gopikrishna's family. Jagan expressed his condolences.

Chandrababu assures help

Taking to X, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu assured all possible help to the bereaved family of Gopikrishna. He said that he was deeply saddened to learn that Dasari Gopikrishna from Bapatla succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting incident in the USA.

“I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and assure them that the GoAP will extend every possible support to help bring him home. We firmly stand by the family and pray for them to find strength through this difficult time,” Naidu said.
