Venkata Rao on Friday announced his resignation from the YSRCP during a meeting held with his supporters and followers in Vijayawada. He also sought an appointment from Chandrababu Naidu to request him to announce his candidature as an MLA from Gannavaram Assembly constituency in the 2024 elections.

"I am ready to contest from any Assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh and even from Gudivada if the party suggests my candidature as an MLA. I left the United States of America (US) and joined politics to serve the people not for money," Venkata Rao said while speaking to the media after meeting Chandrababu Naidu.

Venkata Rao said that he had joined the YSRCP and contested from Gannavaram in the 2019 elections for his survival in politics. He alleged that the YSRCP leadership kept him aside and extended its support to Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who won as an MLA from the TDP.

"For the last three-and-half years, I and my supporters and followers have faced a tough time in YSRCP. Going through the visionary of Chandrababu Naidu, I decided to join the TDP and serve the people of Gannavaram," he said.
