Youth held with 4 grams of MDMA drugs in Vijayawada
Abhishek Varma was caught in Pandit Nehru Bus Station in Vijayawada, while he was illegally transporting drugs to Rajamahendravaram from Bengaluru
VIJAYAWADA: The Krishna Lanka Police arrested a youth for possession of MDMA drugs during a surprise check held at Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) in the city here on August 29.
The incident came to light on Thursday and the accused was identified as N Abhishek Varma (22), a native of Razole in East Godavari district. Around 3.42 grams of MDMA drugs were seized by the police from the accused and sent him to judicial remand.
Vijayawada South Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) B Ravi Kiran said that the accused had completed his engineering course in 2020. At that time, he was addicted to ganja and, for the last six months, Abhishek Varma was addicted to ganja or MDMA drugs with his friends. Initially, the accused had purchased the ganja from the drug peddlers in and around Rajamahendravaram.
Recently, after knowing one of his childhood friends was selling MDMA drugs, Abhishek Varma had approached him and purchased the stock in Bengaluru. From there, the accused had supplied it to his friends in Rajamahendravaram. On August 27, Abhishek Varma had called his friend in Bengaluru and asked him for MDMA drugs and travelled from Rajamahendravaram. In Bengaluru, the accused had purchased around 3.42 grams of MDMA drugs for Rs 10,000, the ACP said.
Ravi Kiran said that the police had arrested Abhishek Varma at PNBS while he tried to escape from the police midway to Rajamahendravaram from Bengaluru. “This drug case has nothing to do with Vijayawada, there are no drug suspects anywhere in NTR district,” the ACP said.
