YS Jagan asks officials to ensure basic infrastructure in Jagananna colonies

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked Housing Department officials on Monday to ensure that basic infrastructure such as drinking water, drainage systems, and electricity are available in all layouts by the time house construction is completed.

During a review meeting on the construction of Jagananna Colonies held here on Monday, the Chief Minister took stock of the progress and asked officials to speak with the beneficiaries and provide electricity connections to all houses when construction reached the final stage.

He also asked the officials to create alternative layouts in areas where house construction was halted due to court cases and other disputes.

Officials previously informed the Chief Minister that house construction had been accelerated, and that the government had spent Rs 6,435 crore on house construction in the current fiscal year, excluding APTIDCO's expenditure.

They officers explained that, in accordance with his instructions from the previous review meeting, inspection teams are visiting the layouts on a regular basis and monitoring the progress and quality of construction by conducting four types of evaluation tests at all locations. Officials visited four lay-outs and conducted quality control tests in December alone. They also said that plans were being made to establish testing labs in all layouts.
