VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada police have produced a person who allegedly attacked Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy with a stone before the local court here on Thursday.
However, the counsel for the accused argued that his client was a minor and he should not be treated as an adult in an adult court. The counsel then presented the Aadhar card of the accused to prove his point.
However, the Government lawyer said that he found the date of birth mentioned by the police different from that of the Aadhar card presented by the accused’s counsel.
While the counsel for the accused objected to the booking of the accused under section 307 for an attempt to murder. “When the accused had no prior criminal record and if he allegedly threw a stone then it would not be considered as an attempt to murder,’ the counsel for the accused argued.
However, the Government lawyer pointed out that the intention of the accused must be considered and not the size of the pebble. At this juncture, the Judge posted the case for further hearing after verifying the date of birth certificate issued by the municipal authorities.
