YS Jagan interacts with cyclone affected people in Tirupati, asks them to dial 1902 for help

TIRUPATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed sympathy for those who faced hardships due to heavy rains caused by Cyclone Michaung.

Highlighting the steps taken by the State Government during his visit to Tirupati district on Friday, YS Jagan said that 92 relief camps have been set up, accommodating 8,364 individuals besides providing rice and groceries to around 60,000 people. He highlighted the State's volunteer system, assuring everyone that the Government would support them in all ways.

Jagan explained that distribution programmes of ration kits was underway and it was provided to 62,000 families and that monetary assistance of Rs 2,500 would also be given to each household to help those affected by damage or loss of goods.

 

He announced that volunteers and village secretariat staff would visit every house within the next four days to distribute funds. Regarding crop loss, the Chief Minister assured the people that there was nothing to fear and assured that a programme would be initiated to provide seeds with an 80 per cent subsidy to those who had planted crops and suffered losses.

YS Jagan mentioned that electricity was restored quickly and teams were working at a brisk pace. He said that collectors have been instructed to gather details of areas where power was not restored and make the restoration process hassle-free for everyone.

The Chief Minister also visited the River Swarnamukhi and and sanctioned a high-level bridge costing Rs 30 crore. He said temporary repair programmes for roads and small tanks would also be initiated with proposals worth Rs 32 crore.

The Chief Minister assured the people that this Government was theirs and would always work for their welfare. He urged anyone who faced any issues to dial 1902 for any complaints. He said there were 110 tanks in the district where some places have been breached and assured of starting all the temporary works and repair programmes of the roads. YS Jagan said that proposals worth Rs 32 crore have been received for the repair of roads, RWS, R&B roads, and small tanks.
